Lake Lanier Sailing Club and College Sailing are honored to host both Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia Sailing Teams. LLSC has developed into an Atlanta area University Sailing Center for the area schools. We support the schools' efforts in both the learn-to-sail programs as well as the collegiate race teams that compete regionally. While both schools operate independently as Club Sports, LLSC offers them equipment storage, a training facility, and the ability to host college events and regattas throughout the year. It’s an honor and a privilege to work with these teams as they provide a valuable and vibrant youth demographic to our membership. We also foster their membership through reduced rates for full-time students.
The Georgia Tech Sailing Club was founded in 1961 by a group of students who discovered they had a common interest in sailing and racing. They wanted to encourage other students to take up their passion for sailing and began teaching everyone who wanted to learn. Over the years, the number of avid sailors at Georgia Tech has grown. They have accumulated an extensive fleet of different sailboats and watercraft. Throughout this expansion, they have maintained their emphasis on racing through participation in intercollegiate and local racing circuits. This sport is one of the most fun and exciting in the world, and they are proud to be an active part of the sailing community.
Georgia Club Sailing is a competitive tier one club sport at The University of Georgia. They offer their members all the necessary instruction and means to gain entry into the sport. The club's focus is on being an all-inclusive club, in which University of Georgia students of any experience level can join and learn about sailing. UGA Sailing also has a competitive Race Team that travels across the Southeast and competes in the North division of the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association. College Sailing is a two season sport: Fall and Spring.
